Fr. John Cox is from Knoxville, TN and was previously the rector of Holy Dormition Orthodox Church in Norfolk, Virginia. He and his wife, Matushka Photini, have four children. Fr. John has been the rector of Holy Ascension since September 1, 2021. Email Fr. John at: rector@orthodoxcharleston.org

ProtoDeacon Mark Barna

Protodeacon Mark Barna was ordained a Deacon on November 26, 2006 by Archbishop Dmitri at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church and has served there ever since. He and his wife Mat. Elizabeth are co-authors of the book A Christian Ending, A Handbook for Burial in the Ancient Christian Tradition, which is a valuable resource and comprehensive plan for natural burial.
